ACTIVITY REPORTS

 JULY 28- 31- 2014

No significant change: One more quake below El Hierro on July 29 and another one on the fault line between Teneriffe and Gran Canaria:

 JULY 22- 27- 2014

Canary quake activity  continued in the  same pattern as during the past months ,with magmatic  quakes below El Hierro in just lower frequency  and an average depth of 10 km and several minor quakes between the islands. in an average depth of 20 km and more,  those are likely related to tectonic processes on a larger scale:

TREMORS:

Tremors dropped to   low intensity- possibly a sign that the new  magma that surged up since December 2013, might now cool down, after  it would pose no thread anymore.

The seismograph on Tenerife still shows  stronger ongoing activity below the islands. Such a strange pattern was  already frequently observed during this activity period that started end of 2013, but was  falsely believed to be a  malefunction -

FREQUENT QUAKES ON THE MIDATLANTIC RIDGE:

A shock from a quake on the midatlantic ridge on July 27 at 01: 30 in the  morning was  measured on all of the islands and caused tremors  from  01:33 UTC until 2: 05 UTC. The measured values were  relatively strongest near La Palma:

DEFORMATION ( EL HIERRO)

remained stable with a short up and down movement during the midth of July 2014:

------------------
----------------------------------------
JULY 13- 21- 2014

Canary quake activity  continued about with the same rate as during the past months ,with further quakes below El Hierro und 3 in between the islands. The depth of the magmatic quakes below El Hierro remains with 9- 12 km on the highest level, the  magma intrusion responsible  for seems to have reached yet.

The Atlantic quake on July 16  occured in just 9 km depth and  now first time in the yet unaffected sea between La Gomera and Tenerife .

128475816/07/201401:40:5628.2053-16.942892.0mbLgATLÁNTICO-CANARIAS[+]

Its epicenter was subseas between Sebastian de  La Gomera and Puerto de Santiago on Tenerife:

The other atlantic  M 2,7 shock had its epicenter about 50- 70 km south of El Hierro in a depth of 30 km ( The deeper quakes are related to tectonic activities on a larger scale)

last quake:
20140705/ another minor quake on the fault line between Teneriffe and Gran Canaria in a depth of 32 km, which seems to be related with tectonic processes on a wider scale but is not caused by magmatic activities from the hot spot  below El Hierro:
